With Metrocargo it is possible to contribute critically to modal shift from road to rail: for the first time, indeed, rail transport can become more flexible and economically convenient if compared to «all-road» mode. The possibility to operate quickly on train composing along the route and to load/unload part of the cargo reduces some criticalities of rail transport, which gets closer to the «stop and go approach» peculiar of passengers transport.
